Luana Knighten, wife of Tuskegee Airman, actress, photographer, co-founder of the 1946 Essence Magazine, star
in "Take a Giant Step" and "The Spectrum".  Her life is told in the story "Tuskegee Love Letters"

Meet Luana -- a beautiful African American woman, with dreams of Meet
Luana -- a beautiful African American woman, with dreams of the 1940's,
moved to Tuskegee, Alabama to be with her grade school crush Broadway
and broadcasting.  A graduate of the Kansas State Teachers,in and
Tuskegee Airman.  She lived with the descendants of Booker T.
Washington and Frederick Douglass before moving to the great city of New
York.  Earning a living as a stenographer and photographer she and her
husband started a magazine dedicated to Negro women:  Essence
