A workshop with audience participation in reading and exploring Length: 90 minutes Description: Using her family play, Tuskegee Love Letters, as a backdrop, playwright and workshop leader, Kim Russell will help participants learn to explore their history and find inventive ways to gain the upper hand on those know-it-all relatives. Planners of family events, or writers and anyone with an interest in collecting family history Workshop Leader: Kim Russell, owner of 702 Entertainment LLC, has presented the play Tuskegee Love Letters across the country. This workshop was original designed for teachers and has garnered tremendous acceptance. Facility Logistics: a table with four chairs facing the audience. The finale of the workshop is a reading of the play, Tuskegee Love Letters by participants. What is the Tuskegee Love Letters? "Tuskegee Love Letters". Written by one of the original 99th Red Tails, Lt. Col James B. Knighten, who went on to be the second African American Air Traffic Controller in the U.S. and in later years to appear on Black Entertainment Television’s (BET’s) Comic View. This is a funny, heart wrenching piece that transports audiences from the Alabama Air field through the segregation of Fort Knox, to high life of New York in the 50's. |
